Stephen R. Covey was born on October 24, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah, into a family deeply rooted in the values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Encouraged from an early age by his supportive parents, Covey developed strong interests in public speaking and debate during high school. Entering the University of Utah at just 16, he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration, then continued his education with an MBA from Harvard University. His academic trajectory culminated in a Doctor of Religious Education from Brigham Young University, where his research focused on organizational behavior and administration—fields that would later underpin his lasting contributions to leadership development.
