Failure and invention are inseparable twins. To invent you have to experiment, and if you know in advance that it’s going to work, it’s not an experiment

People who received a great deal of attention for their looks at a young age are more likely to opt for cosmetic procedures when older. It’s the same in business

To love someone completely is the ultimate accomplishment. It tells the universe you matter, you are an agent of survival, evolution, and life
-The Algebra of Happiness
quote
Until I had kids, my life was 'More . . . I want fucking more.' The only time I’ve ever felt sated, ever, is with my family
-The Algebra of Happiness
quote
Teach 120 kids on Tuesday nights in my Brand Strategy course. That’s $720,000, or $60,000 per class, in tuition payments, a lot of it financed with debt. I’m good at what I do, but walking in each night, I remind myself we (NYU) are charging kids $500/minute for me and a projector. This. Is. Fucking. Ridiculous

quote
If you acknowledge that our kids are the most important thing in our lives, that everything else we do here is meaningful, but our kids' well-being and prosperity is profound. If you acknowledge that they're doing more poorly than previous generations ... And if you believe we can actually fix these problems and we have the resources ... then I present to you ... Do we love our children?

LEARNING PLAN

The Paul Graham Guide to Startup Ideas

This learning plan distills Paul Graham's definitive frameworks for discovering and evaluating startup ideas, drawn from over two decades of essays and Y Combinator experience. It moves from the foundational philosophy of 'living in the future' to specific psychological filters like Schlep Blindness that prevent founders from seeing billion-dollar opportunities. The plan covers the critical distinction between organic and 'made-up' ideas, the 'Well' test for initial demand, and how to navigate competition and unsexy industries. By the end, learners will understand how to prepare their minds to notice problems that are recently fixable and worth solving.

LEARNING PLAN

Startup Fundamentals with Paul Graham

This course distills the core startup philosophy and practical frameworks developed by Paul Graham and Y Combinator. It covers the entire early-stage lifecycle: from 'noticing' organic ideas by living in the future, to building products that a small group of users love, and finally navigating the counterintuitive process of raising seed capital. The material emphasizes that startups succeed not through 'hacking the test' or marketing-speak, but through a relentless focus on truth, speed, and deep user understanding. Learners will explore why the best ideas often look like toys, how to seem 'formidable' to investors by being genuinely convinced of their own bet, and why doing things that don't scale is the optimal path to finding product-market fit.
