    Frequently Asked Questions

The number of books you can borrow depends on your academic role. B.Tech and Dual Degree students can check out four books at a time, while those in the "weaker section" category are allowed six. M.Des students and Research Scholars can borrow five books, or seven if they are in the weaker section. Faculty members have the highest limit at ten books. While faculty can keep books for up to 180 days, students and staff must return or renew their books within 31 days.

Students can access a vast digital collection through the campus LAN or WiFi, including nearly 1,100 electronic journals from major providers like IEEE (IEL) and Elsevier Science Direct. The library also offers twenty-two Pearson e-books and a Kindle E-Book Reader Service for digital browsing. Additionally, students have access to NPTEL course materials, video content, and the Turnitin anti-plagiarism tool to assist with research and academic integrity.

If a book is lost, you are required to provide a brand-new replacement copy and pay a 100-rupee processing fee for the RFID tag, along with any accumulated overdue fines. If the book is out of print and cannot be replaced, you must pay the latest price of the book plus a 250-rupee processing fee. Damage is also strictly monitored; marking or underlining in books is prohibited, and any book damaged under your care must be replaced.

You can renew a book in person at the circulation desk or use the online facility to renew it up to two times. However, online renewal is not permitted if the book is already overdue or if another user has reserved it. If a book you need is unavailable, you can place a reservation online through the OPAC system. Once the book is returned, you will have a two-day window to collect it before it is passed to the next person in line.

The library is open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays, but the circulation desk for issuing and returning books only operates from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM. When visiting, you must have your Institute ID card to borrow materials. It is important to note that personal books are not allowed inside the library, as the space is dedicated to using the institute's own resources.
